Chandan Sen Biography

Chandan Sen is a cine and theatre artist, associated with Bengali entertainment industry. He is also associated with television. He is stage actor playwright, and director. He has also appeared in many Bengali films and television shows. He is of Bangladesh origin. Yet he works in Indian Bangla movies. He is also a supporter Communist Party of India (Marxist). As a television actor, his role in Star Jalsha's daily soap Ichchenodi made him a household name. His theatre career began in 1977, and he has spent more than 4 decades in the entertainment industry, donning different job roles – from actor to director, and many more.

 

Sen was born on February 26, 1963 in Jessore, Bangladesh. His nationality is Indian. A BA Graduate, he was a disciple of Utpal Dutt & Roma Prosad Bonik in Theater. Chandan has joined Theater groups in 1977, since then he has been associated with many theater groups, and has worked in a series of plays over the years. In 1997 he joined Natya Anan Theatre group as Creative Director as well as an actor. He owns a great stint in television, starting his career in 1985. Since then he has appeared in more than 3000 episodes in daily soaps. He also appeared in more than 30 tele-films and a few commercials.

 

Sen has appeared in more than 30 Bengali films. He has been a part of National award winning movies such as "Mr. & Mrs. Ayer" by Aparna Sen, "Bariwali" by RWituparno Ghosh etc. He directed his first play in the year 1981, and since then directed more than 20 plays. Shree Robindro Nath Thakur was his first play as a director.
