Champak Jain Biography

Champak Jain was a film producer associated with Bollywood, who is into film industry since 1980s. He along with his brothers - Ganesh Jain, Ratan Jain, Girish Jain, Umed Jain, Ramesh Jain and Bhawar Jain are the founders of Venus Records & Tapes company, known for releasing music cassettes since 1980s. Champak Jain passed away in 2019 following brain haemorrhage.

They diversified their business plan and entered film production in the 1990s, which was a profitable business. Khiladi (1992) starring Akshay Kumar and Baazigar (1993) starring Shah Rukh Khan were their first releases as movie producers, and both movies became super hits. Both the films directed by Abbas-Mastan belonged to action thriller genres, and after the movie releases, Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan who were less-known actors till then, turned established stars. Since then film production company released many movies in the past 25+ years mostly starring Akshay Kumar and SRK, and many of them were profitable ventures.

Jain brothers got into film industry in the 1980s. Initially they ventured into cassettes and founded Venus Records & Tapes company. With 1990s with the era of sweet melodies returned, their cassette company also grew into a big firm and they diversified their business firms. In the 1980s and 1990s, there were only music cassettes, and with new millennium, CDs were also released. In 1992, they joined film production business.

Khiladi, Garam Masala, Hulchal, Mein Khiladi Tu Anari, De Dana Dan, Hungama, Baazigar, Josh, Baadshah, Akele Hum Akele Tum etc are their major films as film producers, and many of their musical albums were best sellers – such as Baazigar, Yes Boss, Dhadkan etc. Champak Jain’s death took place so unexpectedly. He was in full health when he suddenly collapsed. Though he was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed, he couldn’t be saved. He was just 52 years old.
