Century Raju Mathew Biography 
Century Raju Mathew was a film producer and distributor of Malayalam cinema since mid-1980s. He owned Century Films, and hence ‘Century’ tag got added to his name. In a career for more than 35 decades, he produced 45 films and distributed 125 plus films. He has given numerous hits to Mohanlal, and also a few to Mammootty, and he produced and distributed many of their films ever since they were gaining foot in Malayalam film industry in the second half of 1980s. Karyam Nissaram, Athirathram, Karimbin Poovinakkare, Naadodikaattu etc are among such hit films. His film Thanmathra won National Film award for best movie in Malayalam, and it’s one of the finest roles of Mohanlal’s career.
Century Raju Mathew was born in Kottayam into a rich family in 1937. His father was a banker. Following his father’s footsteps he also reached the same financial field and joined Life Insurance Corporation. He was serving as its manager when he resigned his job and ventured into film production in early 1980s. His first film was directed by top filmmaker of 1980s – Balachandra Menon. The film was titled Kelkaatha Sabdam, and it was released in 1982. From there on, he went on to produce and distribute numerous Malayalam films. He has also distributed a few Telugu and Tamil films, which were major hits in Kerala.
Most of his brothers are also into production field, and they also own film banners. As a film producer, Athiran released in 2019 was the last movie. The thriller opened to positive reviews and was a box office hit. He passed away on 12th November 2019, aged 82. He was married and had two children. Mukti, Sandhyakk Virinja Poovu, Alkoottathil Thaniye etc are a few more notable works.
