C. R. Neelakandan Biography 
C. R. Neelakandan is a political activist and writer associated with Malayalam language. Though an Instrumentation Engineer by profession, he is actively associated with social activities apart from politics and currently serves as the State Convener of Aam Aadmi Party Kerala since 3 January 2016. He joined AAP in 2014 and served as a member of the State Executive Committee prior to his appointment was State Convener. He was associated with SFI and leftist party during his college days and was arrested during Emergency period for alleged possession of communist literature. His wife V. M. Girija is a poet.
As a writer he has authored several books on Environment and Globalisation and his published books include – ‘Prakrthiyude nilavilikal’, ‘Lavlin, Rekhakaliloode’, ‘Paristhithiyum Aagolavalkaranavum’, ‘Aam adhmi sadharanakarante party’, and ‘Paristhithiyute Varthamanangal’. He is actively participating in environmental issues such was waste dumping, Silent Valley protection etc. Aranmula Airport, Plachimada, Athirappilly and Pooyamkutty HEPs are other major environmental issues with which he has been associated with. He is also a recipient of numerous awards including Baba Award, Mukundan C. Menon award, A. Sujanapal Award, Evoorath Award and First Oorja Kerala Award.
He was born in Karuvannoor of Thrissur district to C. P Raman Namboothiri and Savithri Antharjanam in the year 1957. He studied at Government Engineering College, Thrissur. He was involved with SFI and students’ politics during his college days. He also holds an LLB degree. After completing his Engineering studies, he became a trainee at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and later appointed at Keltron in 1981. He retired as Deputy General Manager of Keltron, Aroor branch till his retirement in 2015. Now he is active in Politics.
