C. Aswath Biography 
C. Aswath was a music composer and singer of Kannada language. He was an exponent of Bhavageete ("expressive poetry") also. He has sung numerous Bhavageete songs as well as his own compositions. A pioneer of Kannada "Sugama Sangeetha" (light music), the versatile singer had over 75 albums to his credit. He was an exponent of Theatre, Sugama Sangeetha and filmy type of music and hence a household name. He popularized traditional Indian light & folk music among common man. He died on 29 December 2009 on his 73rd birthday due to renal and liver failures.
Aswath was born on 29 December 1936 in Chennarayapattana. He was graduated in Science from Bangalore University. Then he worked in Indian telephone industries for 27 years and retired as Executive engineer in 1992. He started his musical career as a disciple of Devagiri Shankara Joshi in Hindustani Music. Music for Mysooru Mallige and Santa Shishunala Sharifa's works are regarded as his significant contributions to non-filmy music. As an independent music director of movies, Kakana Kote was his debut work. Movies like Chinnari Mutha, Santha Shishunala Sharief, Mysoora Mallige, Kotreshi Kanasu and Nagamandala also worth mention. 'Elladaroo Iru Entadaroo Iru' song sung by Rajkumar was very popular.
He had a strong association with L. Vaidyanathan and together they worked for more than 3 decades giving any memorable songs. They met for the first time during the recording of the film Kaakana Kote in 1976. Vaidi provided the orchestra for many of Ashwath’s compositions, “Yene Barali Preeti Irali” being the best. Aswath has also released several private albums. An album titled “Nesara Noodu” consists of 21 drama songs composed by him. He has also conducted many concerts India and abroad.
