Brajesh Pathak Biography

Brajesh Pathak is a leading politician from Uttar Pradesh belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party and currently a cabinet minister in the ministry formed by Yogi Adityanath in 2017. He currently holds the portfolios of Law and Justice & Additional Energy Resources. He is currently serving as an MLA of Uttar Pradesh state assembly representing Lucknow central constituency. Prior to his entry in BJP, he has been a member of Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party joined in the year 2004. He left BSP in 2016 and joined the party the same year. He also served as Member of Parliament during 2004–2009.

Brajesh Pathak hails from Mallawan, Uttar Pradesh, born in the year 1964. He was born as the 5^th chold of Kamla and Suresh Pathak, among the 7 children. He had to face a lot of hardships during his childhood days, but was brilliant in studies, and was drawn towards social service since young. A member of Lucknow University Student Union during his college days, he participated in the LUSU election in 1988-1990. He was elected as Vice President LUSU in 1989 and President in 1990.

He contested state assembly elections for the first time in 2002, but fell short of just 130 votes. He joined Bahujan Samaj Party in 2004, and was associated with it for long 12 years. His organizational work in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections played a magnificent role in getting seats for Mayawati’s party, and he rose to higher positions within the party. When his contributions towards the party were under-estimated and decisions taken lightly, disheartened Pathak joined the other party, and continued with his political career.
