Boyapati Srinu Biography

Boyapati Srinu is a popular film director associated with Telugu cinema, who came to spotlight after his recent release, Sarrainodu (2016) which became a blockbuster. The film starred Allu Arjun in male lead role and Rakul Preet Singh and Catherine Tresa in the female leads. Srinu made his directorial debut in the year 2005, and has directed six movies in the past one decade he spent in the industry. Bhadra was his debut flick, followed by Tulasi, Simha, Dammu, Legend and Sarrainodu. Currently he is working on an untitled project, which stars Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. Rakul Preet Singh has recently worked with him for the movie, Sarrainodu.

His name is also pronounced as Boyapati Sreenu. He hails from Pedakakani of Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Noted director of Telugu cinema, Posani Krishna Murali is his cousin. His family runs a photo studio. He too got interested in photography and after completing his studies he started his professional career as a part-time reporter for the Eenadu newspaper. In 1997 he moved to Hyderabad aside his cousin Posani Krishna Murali, and worked behind camera as assistant for many years before he made his directorial debut in 2005.

Gokulamlo Seetha, Pelli Chesukundam and Annayya are among the movies, where he worked as an assistant director. He worked under the director, Muthyala Subbaiah. Srinu made his directorial debut with Bhadra in the year 2005. The movie starred Ravi Teja, Meera Jasmine, and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Since then he has worked with many leading actors of south Indian film industry like Venkatesh, Allu Arjun, Nayanthara, Jr. NTR, Trisha Krishnan, Balakrishna Nandamuri, Jagapati Babu etc. He is the recipient of TSR – TV9 Award for Best Director twice. He won the awards for Simha (2010) and Legend (2015).
