Bommarillu Bhaskar Biography

Bhaskar, popularly known in the film industry as Bommarillu Bhaskar is a film director associated with Tamil and Telugu films. He came to industry in a bang with the Telugu blockbuster, Bommarillu in 2006 which earned him the tag - Bommarillu Bhaskar. The movie also bagged him several awards including Nandi Award for Best First Film of a Director and Best Screenplay. But after his debut flick, he witnessed a series of big flops and his career almost ended in Telugu film industry. After a break of three years, he returns with the film, Bangalore Naatkal, this time in Tamil. The movie is a remake of successful Malayalam blockbuster, Bangalore Days, and released on February 5th 2016, it received negative response from critics.

 

His full name is Bhaskaran Natarajan, born on 23 September 1976 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. He studied at Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, Chennai before he entered film industry. He started his film journey as an associate director of Dil Raju for Telugu and Tamil movies, which include films - Bhadra and Arya. His Telugu film, the hugely successful Bommarillu broke several box office records and Bhaskar achieved success and recognition with his maiden venture. The movie starred Siddharth Narayan and Genelia D'Souza in the lead role and was later remade to several Indian languages. Genelia D'Souza and Prakash Raj were retained for its Tamil version, Santosh Subramaniam, and was a box office hit. Genelia D'Souza was casted in its Hindi version - It's My Life also.

 

The director offered his hair to Lord Venkateswara at Tirupati following its success. The one-line story about the relationship between a father and son was written long back in 1997. His next movie, Parugu starring Allu Arjun was a box office hit. But after that he faced a couple of flops – Orange and Ongole Githa and disappeared from Telugu film scene. In 2016, he returned to film scene with the film - Bangalore Naatkal.
