Bombayala Devi Biography
Bombayla Devi Laishram is an Indian archer who represented India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics in the women’s individual event and team events. However she could not enter the finals in any of these matches.
She was born on 22nd February 1985 in Imphal East in Manipur. Her father’s name is Manglem Singh and her mother’s name is M. Jamini Devi. Her father is a state handball coach and her mother is a state archery coach.
She completed her education at Bira Mangal College and joined the Tata Archery Academy at Jamshedpur to undertake training. She was coached by Dharmendra Tiwary. She represented India at the Olympics for the second time in 2012.
She was the first women to qualify for the Olympics 2008 after exhibiting her talents at the 2007 World Archery Championship at Leipzig in Germany. Her team won silver medal at the 46th World Archery Championship in Turin in Italy in July 2011.
She started her career in archery in 1996 and after ten years, in 2006, she became the member of the Indian team. She won gold at the recurve team event at 2010 Commonwealth Games held at New Delhi and this is one of her glorious moments.
