Bombay S. Kamal Biography 
Bombay S. Kamal was a veteran music composer and singer associated with Malayalam cinema. Though born in Mumbai (then known as Bombay), he was associated with Malayalam film songs and composed music for 13 films. He was also a stage artist who used to perform old Hindi songs of Rafi for live concerts. An active presence in the field of music for the past six decades, he passed away on March 16, 2015 aged 85. Nilavilakku, Aksharaartham, Police Diary, Sheershakam, Shaanthi Nilayam etc are some of his works as a composer. As a singer, some of his recent works include ‘Chalo Chalo…’ in Major Ravi’s Kurukshetra. He acted in Bharat Chandran, IPS.
Bombay S. Kamal was born in Mumbai. He lost his parents at a younger age. He started singing at the age of 7. He used to listen to oldies on radio. He was a great fan of Mohammed Rafi and started singing his songs at this younger age. It was only his hobby then. But later he dreamt to become a great singer like Rafi. His meeting with Ustad Moin Khan proved to be the turning point of his singing career. It was Moin Khan who was impressed by his voice, who introduced him to his first strains of music. He taught him music for half hour daily. He started singing for concerts at the age of 16. Since then, till his death he has sung the songs of a single singer only – None other than Mohammed Rafi!
Though he tried a lot to get a chance in playback singing in Bollywood, he got the opportunity to sing in chorus only. Once he happened to meet Malayalam music composer Baburaj at Mumbai, who prompted Kamal to move to Kerala. He began his musical journey with the background music for the 1979 release Evide En Prabhatham. Later he composed music scores as well. Apart from films, he conducted musical shows and scored music for television serials and professional dramas.
