Bheeman Raghu Biography

Bheeman Raghu is a noted actor of Malayalam film industry known for character and supporting roles. He plays comic roles as well as villain roles with ease and is one of the flexible actors of the industry. His real name is Raghu and he made his debut as a full-fledged actor and hero through the movie Bheeman and that’s how he got the name Bheeman Raghu. He has appeared in more than 400 Malayalam movies and thus he owns an important place in Malayalam cinema.

He started his career in the early 1980’s and has spent around three and a half decade in the industry. He often plays the side kick of main villain in serious and comic flavours. Though it’s not an easy task to point out his best roles, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha (1989), Godfather (1991), Thuruppu Gulan (2006) and Rajamanikyam (2005) are among his noted ones. He is to make his directorial debut where he plays the lead hero role too. The movie is scripted by Satyan Kulangad.

He was born in Changanassery of Kottayam district to K. P. Damodaran Nair, former Municipal Commissioner, and Thankamma in the year 1953. He holds an LLB degree and was a police officer by profession before entering movies. He was in police service for long 11 years. He completed his education from SDV College Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram University College. He is married to Radha and couple has 3 children. The family currently resides in Thiruvananthapuram city.

‘Thanal’ was the first movie of Raghu. However the first released movie was ‘Pinneyum pookkunna kaadu’. Though he has not played lead roles in many movies, 1982 movie Bheeman made him a hero for the first time. After that he came to be known by the name ‘Bheeman Raghu’. The movie was directed by Hassan and he acted aside ensemble cast of Ratheesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Unni Mary and Swapna.
