Bhaswar Chattopadhyay Biography

Bhaswar Chattopadhyay is a Bengali film and television actor who has acted in a few Bollywood films also. He made his film debut with 2002 Bollywood film - The Legend of Bhagat Singh directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi where he played the pivot role of Batukeshwar Dutt, a revolutionary and freedom fighter from Bengal. He made his film debut with 2003 Bengali film, Alo directed by Tarun Majumder and starring Rituparna Sengupta and Abhishek Chatterjee. Since then he is regularly seen in Bengali movies, essaying character roles. Gogoler Kirti (2014), Obhishopto Nighty (2014), Namte Namte (2013), Jekhane Bhooter Bhoy (2012), Chupkatha (2012), Smritituku Thak (2012), Shudhu Tomake Chai (2012) and Royal Bengal Rahasya (2011) are among his noted roles in the recent times.

Bhaswar Chattopadhyay, also pronounced as Bhaswar Chatterjee is of Bengali origin. His schooling was completed from South Point School and Andrews High School and later he completed graduation in Zoology from the famous Asutosh College. Made his film debut in a pivot role through the Bollywood film - The Legend of Bhagat Singh, he later played numerous roles for Bengali television and cinema. Yet he was not seen in Bollywood movies later. Raj Mahal, Alo, Rabibarer Bikalbela, Ratbhor, Krishnakanter Will, Ballygunge Court, Eti etc are some of his early roles. He played parallel lead in Eti, the movie directed by Sambit Nag.

His debut film Alo was a blockbuster and the movie was directed by Tarun Majumder. The jack of many trades, he has experimented with different types of character roles onscreen. He is quite popular with the Bengali TV shows - "Maa" and "Agniporikkha". He played a doctor in Souvik-Dipankar's directorial debut "Chup Katha". Quite interestingly his character dies in most of his film roles.
