Betha Sudhakar Biography

Betha Sudhakar is a popular comedian and producer associated with south Indian film industry. Apart from Telugu and Tamil films, he has also acted in a few Bollywood films. He has portrayed over 600 character roles onscreen and is also known as the film producer of Telugu film Yamudiki Mogudu and many other super hits. He co-produced 1990 film Sutradharulu, which received National award for best regional film in Telugu. Betha is also an excellent comedian and a winner of Nandi awards in this category twice. He won Best Comedian award for the movies - Peddarikam and Snehitulu.

His real name is Sudhakar G. He was born in Markapuram, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh to a deputy collector. He was the youngest of seven brothers. Due to the nature of his father’s job, his school studies was done at various schools. After intermediate at Andhra-Christian College, Guntur, he joined Madras film institute to pursue a career in film acting. Chiranjeevi and Hari Prasad were his classmates. He entered film scene in the early 1980s and played hero roles in movies like Srushti Rahasyalu, Oorikicchina Maata, Bhogi Mantalu, Konte Kodallu etc. But his switch over to comic roles proved to be his major breakthrough. He gained popularity as a comedian in a short period.

His distinct voice modulation and dialogue pronunciation made him apt to accept comedian roles on silver screen and he portrayed numerous memorable roles in the 1980s and 1990s, in Telugu and Tamil. He also starred in 1983 Bollywood comedy film - Shubh Kaamna aside Utpal Dutt, Rati Agnihotri, Rakesh Roshan and many leading Bollywood stars. He played the role of Gyanshankar in the movie. Later he ventured into film production and has produced many commercial hits like - Yamudiki Mogudu.
