Basangouda Patil Yatnal Biography

Basangouda Patil Yatnal is an Indian politician from the south Indian state of Karnataka, associated with regional politics. He got elected to Karnataka Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1999 where he served a term of 5 years. After that he joined legislature only in 2018. In between he was associated with national level politics, where he served as a Lok Sabha Member twice between 1999 and 2009, and also Union Minister of State of Ministry of Textiles (2002 - 2003) and Ministry of Railways (2003 – 2004). Yatnal is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He represented the Bijapur constituency of Karnataka in 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha of India.

 

Basangouda Patil Yatnal hails from Vijayapura, Karnataka. He was born in the year 1963. He has three elder brothers, 2 younger brothers and one younger sister. He is married to Shailaja Basangouda Patil. His active career in politics began in the 1990s. He got elected to state legislative assembly for the first time in 1994 as a BJP candidate and he served a complete term of 5 years.

 

In 1999 he contested Lok Sabha elections for the first time and got elected too. During his tenure as an MP he remained Parliament Committee on Industry as well as Private Members' Bills and Resolutions. He also remained a Member of Parliamentary Consultative Committee, Ministry of Human Resources Development.

 

In 2002 he became the Union Minister of State, Ministry of Textiles, and after one year his portfolio was replaced by Ministry of Railways. He got elected to Lok Sabha for the second time in 2004 when UPA government was formed in the centre.
