Balwant Singh Biography

Balwant Singh is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for ATK in the Indian Super League. He has also played for Chennaiyin (loan) during 2014 and 2014 in ISL and later played for Mumbai City in 2017–2018. He plays for national team since 2014 and has represented India at India U23 and India B before. Salgaocar, Churchill Brothers and Mohun Bagan are other major teams for which he played for. He did not have a background or family that had a footballing history. Yet when he was promoted by people at the right time, he grew up to one of the most sought young players of the country.

 

Balwant Singh was born on 15 December 1986 in village Rahalli, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Balwant started his footballing journey with Mahilpur Football Club. Later he joined JCT where he was trained in this game. He plays football as a senior player for the past 10 years since 2008. He scored his first professional goal for JCT on 28 September 2008 against Mahindra United, and his team won by a major margin of score 7-1. After that he has played with different sports club of India. He was signed by Kolkata for ISL in 2018.

 

Balwant was introduced to football at a younger age. Balwant enjoyed playing football just as a hobby. But his potential was noticed by a few people who promoted it and now he is one of the leading players from India’s side. His school principal was one among those who noticed him for the first time, who suggested him to join school team. He started practising for the school team, and when he moved to college after two years, he never left football. He represented college for two years and joined JCT Academy during college days. There was no turning back after that.
