Baljit Singh Deo Biography

Baljit Singh Deo is a film director associated with Punjabi cinema, quit popular as a music video director. He has shot many super hit Punjabi music videos and is also interested in photography. Deo was born in Jalandhar, Punjab. He received a nomination at PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Director for the 2012 Punjabi film, Mirza The Untold Story and the movie was a box office hit. Jag Jeondeyan De Mele, Hero Naam Yaad Rakhi and Faraar are other Punjabi releases till now. He directed popular videos of many Punjabi music stars like Harbhajan Mann, Gurdas Mann, Gippy Grewal, Amrinder Gill, Jazzy B, Aman Hayer, Arif Lohar, Sukshinder Shinda etc. His delayed project, Himmat Singh may get released in 2016.

His childhood was spent in England, where he completed his education. Born in Jalandhar, he moved to London at a very young age. He completed Engineering in Microelectronics while at England. After studies Deo worked as an engineer for a few years and has worked for corporate sector companies like Motorola and Development Director at EA Sports. However his passion to films, music and photography prompted him to quit his job and pursue in this field.

He started Deo Studios and did photography for a few years. Later he shot many music videos. After directing many popular music videos, he slowly turned a successful film director of Punjabi cinema. He directed his first Punjabi music video for the Punjabi singer Sukhdev Sukha. 2009 film Jag Jeondeyan De Mele marked his film debut as a director. The movie starred Harbhajan Mann, Kulwinder Sanghera, Baljinder Sanghera and Gulzar Inder Chahal and was a huge box office hit. Since then he directed many successful Punjabi movies. Dildarian and Tere Bina of Amrinder Gill, Oh Na Kuri Labde of Jazzy B and Sukshinder Shinda, Punjabi Clap of Sukshinder Shinda, Huthiyar of Gippy Grewal etc are among his popular music videos.
