Balachandra Menon Biography 
Balachandra Menon is an Indian film actor and a director who has also produced some Malayalam films. He has given some super duper hits in eighties and nineties. He has won many awards for his films. He received Padma Shri Award for his achievements in film industry in the year 2007. His career in cinema field spans over three decades.
Balachandra Menon was born on 11th January 1954 in Aluva in Kerala. His father’s name is Shiva Shankara Pillai and his mother’s name is Lalitha Devi. His father was a railway station master and wanted his only son to study medicine or join the IAS. He has two sisters Prema Kumari and Sushama Kumari. He married Varada Menon on 12th May 1982 and has two children, son named Akhil Vinayak and daughter named Bhavana.
He completed his pre-degree from Fathima Matha College in Quilon. He was nourishing his ambitions to become a film director from that time. He completed his graduation from the University College at Thiruvananthapuram and studied journalism from Press Club. He applied for reporter job in a popular film magazine named Nana.
He entered film industry in the year 1978 through the film Uthrada Rathri in which he worked as a director. He also proved himself as a writer and director and also started to act in some films in variety of roles and became one of the favorite actors of Malayalam film industry. He has also introduced many talented artists such as Shobana, Lissy, Parvathu, Karthika, Usha, Nanthini, Maniyanpilla Raju, etc.
He tried to get an admission in the Madras film institute but could not fulfill his aim. He also aspired to become a lawyer and he was able to achieve his aim after many long years. He enrolled as a lawyer on 30th July 2012 after 22 years of his dreams.
He is very talented and he even worked as a music director for his films Kuruppinte Kanakku Pusthakam, Samantharangal and Krishna Gopalakrishna. Some of the films that he has directed include Uthrada Rathri, Kalika, Ishtamanu Pakshe, Chriyo Chiri, Kelkatha Shabdam, Kilukilukkam, Karyam Nissaram, Tharattu, April 18, Oru Painkilikatha, Vivahitare Itihile, Achuvettante Veedu, Vilambaram, Isabella, Kandathum Kettathum, Sesham Kazhchayil, Sukham Sukhakaram, April 19, Krishna Gopalkrishna, De Ingottu Nokkiya, etc.
Though he is very busy with his works, he had also penned few books namely Ammayanay Sathyam, Kaanatha Sulthanu Snehapoorvam, Ninnay Enthinu Kollaam?, etc. He has won many national awards and state level awards.
