Badava Gopi Biography

Badava Gopi is a standup comedian and film actor from Tamil Nadu. He also gained recognition as a mimicry artist and radio jockey. He was introduced to Tamil cinema in the year 2005 through the movie, Poo and since then he is regularly associated with movies mostly portraying comic, negative and character roles. He was seen in a commentator role in 2007 sports film, Chennai 600028 and reprised the same role in its sequel, Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings released in 2017. Some of his best movies include - Aaha Kalyanam, Kodi, 3, Thodari, Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham, Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani, Thondan, Massu Engira Masilamani and a dozen of other characters.

Badava Gopi hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born in the year 1973. Before he joined films, he was a standup comedian and mimicry artist who has been regular with stage shows. He was a radio jockey and host, with Hello FM and Radio city, FM radio stations in Tamil. First break to films was given by director K. Balachander who has given opportunity to fresh talent always. 2005 movie Poo marked his acting debut in Tamil cinema. Since then he has been regular on big screen, mostly portraying comic roles.

Gopi is almost a permanent fix of Venkat Prabhu movies, and also worked with Samuthirakani. His role as a journalist in 2016 hit Thodari was well appreciated. Played a cricket commentator’s role in Chennai 600028 and Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings, in real life too, he has carried away with the same role for Celebrity Cricket League matches. He has been always choosy about his film roles and wants perfection. For the movie Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal, most of his filmy dialogues were taken from his own experiences.
