B. K. Chaturvedi Biography 
B. K. Chaturvedi is an IAS officer who served as the cabinet secretary in Government of India. The Government of India awarded him Padma Bhushan for his contributions to civil services in the year 2010.
He was born in Uttar Pradesh and finished his Masters Degree in Physics at Allahabad University. He got specialization in Electronics. He continued his education in United Kingdom where he pursued his course in Manchester University in Public Administration. Before he became an IAS officer, he was working as a professor of physics at Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College at Allahabad.
He also served as the member of the Planning Commission in June 2007 and he was appointed as the member of the Thirteenth Finance Commission in November 2007. He passed Indian Administrative Service in 1966 and started his career as an IAS officer. Then he rose to the position of Cabinet Secretary in June 2004 and served in this position for three years.
When he served as the Cabinet Secretary, he gave valuable advice to Prime Minister on all major issues and served as the head of the National Crisis Management Committee. He had served as the Secretary of Indian Government in various Ministries that include Finance, Higher Education, Technical Education, Elementary Education, Human Resource Development and Petroleum & Natural Gas.
He has diverse experience of working as a member of several boards of Public Sector Undertakings and this include MMTC Limited, LIC, General Insurance Corporation of India and State Electricity Board of Uttar Pradesh.
When he was a Cabinet Secretary, he also served as the Member of the Atomic Energy Commission and Space Commission of India. He initiated many economic reforms in different sectors.
