Azmeera Chandulal Biography

Azmeera Chandulal is a very influential politician from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. He is currently a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the constituency Mulugu constituency, and also serves as Tourism and Tribal Welfare Minister of Telangana. He was elected thrice to state Assembly from Mulugu Constituency as Legislative Member, and twice as a Member of Parliament from Warangal Parliament Constituency. It’s his first term in Telangana state, and he has served as an MLA of Andhra Pradesh twice before. He also served as minister of Tribal Welfare, Andhra Pradesh in 1989 under Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

Azmeera Chandulal was born on 17 August 1954 at Jaggannapet in Warangal District. Now his birth place forms a part of Telangana state. He is married to Sharda and has 3 sons and a daughter. He is one among those rare leaders from Telugu speaking community who rose to prominence from village politics. From serving as a Sarpanch, Village (local head) of Jaggannapet Mandal, Warangal district to Member of Parliament twice from the same locality, he had an amazing run in politics till now. He also served as member of legislative assembly and cabinet minister multiple times, showing his presence in state level politics as well.

He was a S.T. Cell State President of Telugu Desam Party during 1999-2001. In 2005 he joined Telangana Rasthra Samithi, and in 2006 he became a Polit bureau Member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi marking a new beginning in his political career, advocating a separate state of Telangana. After winning state assembly elections in 2014, he was induced to the state cabinet and given Tribal welfare, tourism and cultural portfolios in December.
