Aziz Mirza Biography

Aziz Mirza is a popular director and script writer of Bollywood who is most famous for Shah Rukh Khan Movies. Except a few movies like Kismat Connection, he has done movies only with Shah Rukh Khan and all the popular movies of Shah Rukh Khan – Juhi Chawla pair exclusively go to Aziz Mirza’s credit. He was one among those early directors of Bollywood who gave opportunities to Shah Rukh Khan. Their association started long back with popular serial on Doordarshan ‘Circus’, which gave King Khan direct entry to Bollywood. ‘Raju ban gaya gentleman’ was one among the earliest release of Shah Rukh Khan and this movie was directed by Aziz Mirza. Juhi Chawla was the top heroine that time with the success of QSQT. Yet she agreed to work with a new comer Shah Rukh Khan. Till now they are good friends and in association with Aziz Mirza, they have formed a production company ‘Dreamz Unlimited’ in the year 1999. The first movie under this banner was ‘Phir bhi dil hai hindusthani’ starring SRK and Juhi Chawla in leading roles and Aziz Mirza as director. Yet it couldn’t repeat the success of big hits of this pair – Yes Boss and Raju ban gaya gentleman, both directed by Aziz Mirza.

Other movies directed by Aziz Mirza include – Chalte Chalte and Kismat Connection. Shah Rukh Khan was casted opposite Rani Mukherjee in Chalte Chalte and the movie was well received in the box office too. But Kismat Connection starring Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan in the pivot roles failed to give an impact on audience and received bad responses as well. Only the songs like ‘Baaquda tum hi ho’ and dance number, title track were noted. He has written the scripts of Chalte Chalte, Raju ban gaya gentleman and Yes Boss.  

Among all his movies, perhaps the most romantic movie is Yes Boss. The movie is remembered for its comedy, romance as well as melodious songs like Ek din aap yun, Chand tare and Mein koi aisa geet. The movie accumulated a lot of musical awards at award functions. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, Aditya Pancholi played a significant role in the movie. All his movies are simple stories dwelling with human relationships and its complications. They often tell how circumstances make men do wrong and bad things! His movies always end with a good note with a nice message given.
