Ayesha Jhulka’s name is among those celebrated beautiful heroines of early 90’s, who slowly faded with the end of the decade. After the super success of two movies in the same year 1992, Khiladi and Jo jeeta wohi sikander, Ayesha Jhulka slowly lost her way in Bollywood. It can be said that she left film world at the peak of her success and after marriage, though returned to Bollywood, could do only less significant roles.

Ayesha Jhulka had an innocent and attractive face and she suited both modern college girl role and traditional beauty during early 90’s. In most movies she was casted as a lovely school girl or college girl. Jo jeete wohi sikander, Balma and Khiladi are such instances and she was most successful and still remembered for such a few roles she carried away without burden.

Her career started as a child artist through the movie Kaise kaise log in 1983. As actress, she entered Bollywood during early 90’s. Meet mere mann ka (1990) opposite Puneet Isaar was her first movie as heroine, though in supporting role. In 1991, movie Kurbaan opposite Salman Khan was released and its success made her a notable heroine. But it was the year 1992 that placed her as a memorable heroine in the pages of Bollywood. Masooq, khiladi and Jo jeeta wohi sikander were released this year – the movies and songs for which she is remembered still now. ‘Pehla Nasha’ – the song pictured in slow motion and debut of Farah Khan as choreographer is still a craze of school and college campus. Thus in the successive years, she played the leading lady role of superstars of present Bollywood – Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. Though promos of the movie ‘Kisi Se Dil Laga Ke Dekho’ opposite SRK were shown, this movie was shelved in the middle. She had a wonderful combination with Mithun Chakravarthy. Dalaal, Suraj and rang were movies opposite him. She was successfully paired with Jackie Shroff, Nagarguna, Govinda, Ajay Devgan and Suniel Shetty. She was the heroine of the first movie of Khiladi series of Akshay Kumar, a process that has not stopped yet!

A few movies need special mention – Ghunghat, Hote hote pyar ho gaya, Viswavidatha, Balma, Kohra, Sangram, Dil ka baazi and Eka raja rani. She was the leading lady of superstars of today about 2 decades back and has played a significant role in nourishing their early career in Bollywood too.
