Avantika Hari Biography

Avantika Hari is an Indian born film director and screenwriter who makes English films. She is also a media personality who owned her own multimedia consulting firm during her academic years. Her debut film as a director, ‘Land Gold Women’ in 2011 won numerous awards and recognitions not only in India, but also at different film festivals. She co-produced the film aside her husband Vivek Agrawal who also marked his film debut with this film. Vivek has been into ad world before he joined hands with Avantika to produce the film under a new banner started by them. Vivek has also co-produced a few Bollywood movies such as Mausam, London Paris New York, Bombay Velvet etc since 2010, with Mausam being his debut flick in Bollywood.

 

The film - Land Gold Women based on honour killing received Indian National award for best feature film in English in 2010, though the film had a theatre release later. The movie also bagged numerous awards in various film festivals including best screenplay at the Asian Festival of First Films in 2009, where Avantika Hari was honoured as the best screenwriter. It also won the second best film and best actor award at ReelHeART International Film Festival held in Toronto, apart from numerous honours. The film was also screened at Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of Goa in 2009.

 

Avantika Hari was born in India, brought up in the Middle East. She completed her higher studies in e US and UK, where she graduated with a double major in Digital Arts and Economics from Stetson University Florida and also studied Creative Writing and Filmmaking at Stanford University in California. By that time she owned a multimedia consulting firm and was working part-time.
