Ateeq Hussain Khan Biography 
Ateeq Hussain Khan is a Hindustani Qawwal from Hyderabad, who performs in Bandish, Thumri, Bhajan Tarana Ghazal etc in Hindustani classical music. He is the son of renowned Hindustani singer, Iqbal Hussain Khan Bandanawazi to Gwalior Gharana. He was a Sufi singer too. His grandfather Ustad Qurban Hussain Khan, great-grandfather Qurban Hussain Khan and great-great-grandfather Ustad Bade Inayat Hussain Khan too were renowned Hindustani musicians who belonged to the famous Gwalior Gharana. Thus Ateeq was born into a family of rich and centuries-old musical tradition, with most of them giving immense contributions to Hindustani and Sufi music.
Ustad Ateeq Hussain Khan Bandanawazi Al-Hashmi Qawwal, shortly called Ateeq Hussain Khan is a representative of present-day generation of Sufi and Hindustani music, which owns musical heritage for many generations. Khan was born in 1980 in Hyderabad, present-day Telangana to Iqbal Hussain Khan Bandanawazi who represented Gwalior Gharana. He owns musical lineage from his mother’s side also. His maternal grandfather is Padmashri Aziz Ahmed Khan Warsi who belongs to the Delhi Gharana. Ateeq is trained in Gwalior Gharana like his ancestors.
His father Ustad Iqbal Hussain Khan Bandanawazi initiated him to music at a very young age and taught him different forms of Hindustani music. He still remembers the day when he was lazy to wake in the early morning from the bed and his father poured a bucket of water upon him. Upholding the legacy of his forefathers, he is currently one of the leading and established singers of present generation. He also upholds the deep-rooted tradition of Bandanawazi Qawwal. He is the seventh generation from the lineage of Ustad Haddu Hassu Khan belonging to the Gwalior Gharana of classical musicians. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Sabri Brothers have been great sources of inspiration. Whenever he gets time, he listens to old songs of Lata Mangeshkar also.
