Asiya Andrabi Biography 
Asiya Andrabi is a Kashmiri separatist who hails from Jammu and Kashmir. She is the founding leader and chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, an Islamic group which is part of the separatist organisation 'All Parties Hurriyat Conference' in the Kashmir valley. Government of India has already banned it as a terrorist organization, and the main demand of this group is to work towards the separation of Kashmir from India. Her husband Ashiq Hussain Faktoo is also involved with the same mission for the unification of Kashmir with Pakistan, and he is in jail since 1993 over the murder charge of human rights activist H. N. Wanchoo. He was released only for a short span in 1999.
Asiya Andrabi was born in Kashmir in the year 1962. She graduated in Bio-chemistry and took Master’s in Arabic from Kashmir University. She married Ashiq Hussain Faktoo in 1990, and three years later he got jailed for murder charges. He is still in jail. Asiya has two sons. Her elder son is living in Malaysia with Asiya’s elder sister while the younger son is studying in Srinagar. In 2013, three of her nephews were arrested in Pakistan for terror links. A story about her son's love affair in Srinagar surfaced in 2017, and as per reports Asiya rejected it because of the girl’s caste, and also because her father is a tailor.
Based on the principles of Jamiat Ahle Hadith, she coded her religious beliefs. She also founded Dukhtaran-e-Millat, an Islamic group which demands separation of Kashmir from India. She has closely worked with Syed Ali Shah Geelani for separation of Kashmir. She has also played an important role in Kashmir politics in recent times. On 28 August 2010 she was arrested by Kashmiri police for wagging war against the country. She was again arrested on 17 September 2015 for waving Pakistani flags and addressing a conference in Pakistan over phone.
