Ashok Chakradhar Biography

Ashok Chakradhar is a noted writer and poet of Hindi literature known for satire works. He was honoured with Padma Shri by Indian government most recently in the year 2014. He is a regular participant of several Kavi sammelans. He has served as professor in Hindi literature at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi. His published works include children’s literature, plays, poetry collections, Adult educational literature and literary criticism. 'Rang Jamaa Lo', 'Bitiyaa Kee Sisakee', 'Bandariyaa Chalee Sasuraal', ‘Jab Rahaa na koee Chaaraa’ and ‘Jaane kyaa Tapake’ are his published plays. 'Snehaa Kaa Sapnaa', 'Heeron Kee Choree', 'Ek Bagiyaa Main' and 'Koel Kaa Sitaar' belong to children literature. He has also been associated with television as a host, writer and actor. He hosted the show "Wah Wah!!" for SAB TV.

Ashok Chakradhar was born on February 8, 1951 at Aheerpada Khurja, Bulandshahar. After studies, he served as a professor in different colleges and universities. He is married to noted writer Kaka Hathrasi’s niece, Ms Bageshri. Chakradhar has won many prestigious national awards for literature. His noted critic works include - 'Muktibodh Kee Kaavya Prakriyaa', 'Chaayaa Ke Baad', 'Muktibodh Kee Kavitaaee' and 'Muktibodh Kee Samikshaaee'. He has also worked as an editor of 'Sammelan Samaachaar Samagra’, VII Vishva Hindi Sammelan.

He has been associated with radio and television as a scriptwriter. His works included dramas, satires and poems for children. His other noted works include - 'Naee Dagar', 'Apaahij Kaun', 'Hamane Muhim Chalaaee', 'Bhaee Bhaut Achchhe', 'Badal Jaayengee Rekhaa', 'Taaumra Kaa Aaraam', 'Kab Talak Sahtee Rahen', 'Apnaa Haq Apnee Zameen', 'Kahaanee Jo Aankhon Se Bahee', 'Aur Police Par Bhee', 'Mazdooree Kee Raah', 'Jugat Karo Jeene Kee', 'Aur Kitne Din', Novel Manautee’, 'Gharhe Oopar Handiyaa', 'To Kyaa Hotaa Jee', 'Aise Hotee Hai Shaadee' and 'Rotee Ye Dhartee Dekho'.
