Ashok (tamil Actor) Biography

Ashok is a noted Tamil actor who works in Tamil films, mostly in character roles. He hails from Thiruvaiyaru of Thanjavur District. He has learnt bharatnatyam and took formal training at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute in Mumbai. He also trained for film stunts, fights and gymnastics. As a teenager, he played the role of Little Krishna in Ramanand Sagar's teleserial Sri Krishna. The role earned him "Best Child Actor Award" from Uptron. He is a theatre artist too, who has been involved in several plays as an actor. A man with several roles, he also choreographed for several stage shows with Bollywood Celebrities like Asha Bhonsle, Sonu Nigam and Aamir Khan prior to his acting debut in films.

His full name is Ashok Kumar Balakrishnan, and is best known by the stage name, Ashok. He was born into a middle-class family to R. Balakrishnan and Rohini Balakrishnan on 12 December 1981 in Thiruvaiyaru, Tamil Nadu. He has one elder brother. Ashok was brought up in Mumbai where he completed his schooling and graduation. He graduated in Sociology, Psychology & Hindi Literature.

Muruga, directed by R. T. Neason marked his film debut in 2007. Pidichirukku, directed by Kanagu was his second film. He was also seen in a brief role in Malayalam movie, Mulla in a song sequence. Prior to his entry in films, he was fully active in theater and was also associated with choreography field. He established as a lead hero in Tamil movies. He learnt Bharatnatyam since the age of 4, and has appeared in tele serials as a child actor. Some of his released films include – Ula, Ka Ka Ka, Vetkathai Kettal Enna Tharuvaai, Kozhi Koovuthu, Kaki, Kadhal Solla Aasai etc.
