Ashmit Patel Biography

Ashmit Patel is an actor of Bollywood cinema, most known for his roles in Murder, Nazar and Dil diya hai. His other movies include - Banaras: A Mystic Love Story, Toss, Mental, Fight Club – Members Only, Silsilay, Inteha and Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana. He is the younger brother of actress Amisha Patel of Bollywood. Though stayed in Bollywood for past one decade or so he is still a struggling name in Bollywood. His one and only memorable performance till now is his second movie – Murder. Though he proved himself to be a promising actor with this movie, and soon got a movie opposite Pakistani top actress Mira, he couldn’t make it big till now. Except for the kissing scene with Pakistani actress in the Nazar, he is not in news at all. That particular scene rose eye brows of Pakistan and later, censor board gave a cut to those intimate scenes giving respect to the feelings of Pakistan.

Patel was born to a Gujarati couple in Mumbai in the year 1978. He is the son of Amit Patel and Asha Patel and the younger brother of Amisha Patel. His grandfather was a famous lawyer-politician, Barrister Rajni Patel. Patel studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai. Later he went to US to take a degree. After graduation, he assisted his father in business, but later decided to join film industry stepping into his sister’s shoes.

Patel started his career as an assistant director and worked with Vikram Bhatt. He worked as an assistant director for movies like – Aap mujhe ache lagne lago (starring his sister and Hritik Roshan), Aawara pagal diwana, Raaz and Foot path. He made his acting debut with the film Inteha, where he played the role of Ranbir Oberoi. The movie was directed by Vikram Bhatt. But it was through his next movie Murder, he became a known face. He played the role of a workaholic husband who gives less importance to his wife. Mallika Sherawat played his wife’s role and this movie was the biggest hit of the year 2004. He remained in news with his next flick, Nazar too. But lost his way someway somewhere.
