Ashish R. Mohan Biography

Ashish R. Mohan is a film director associated with Bollywood. Till now he has directed two movies, both belonging to comedy genre - Khiladi 786 (2012) starring Akshay Kumar and Asin and Welcome to Karachi (2015) starring Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani. Khiladi 786 received mixed reviews from critics and was a moderate hit at box office, while Welcome to Karachi opened to negative reviews and was a flop. Earlier Mohan has served as an assistant director of numerous movies of Ajay Devgan including Golmaal series, All the Best: Fun Begins (2009) and Sunday (2008) directed by Rohit Shetty. He is associated with Rohit Shetty since 2006. He has also assisted Ajay Devgan’s uncle, Anil Devgan for one movie – Blackmail, before his long term association with Rohit Shetty began.

Ashish R. Mohan hails from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Since childhood Bollywood fascinated him and he dreamed to become a filmmaker since 17 years old. So fulfill his dreams at the age of 17, he moved to Mumbai from Shimla. He started his career as an assistant director with Anil Devgan in 2005 and worked with him for one movie – Blackmail starring Ajay Devgan and Diya Mirza. After that he worked as an assistant under the ace filmmaker of Bollywood known for action comedies – Rohit Shetty for several years. Since 2006 he worked with Rohit Shetty for all movies starring Ajay Devgan till 2010 for Golmaal 3.

He made his directorial debut with Khiladi 786 - film that marked the return of Akshay Kumar to his Khiladi series after 12 years. However the movie couldn’t earn much appreciation similar to Akshay’s previous movies of Khiladi series. However the movie was a moderate hit at box office. His latest release is Welcome to Karachi in 2015.
