Aruna Bahuguna Biography 
Aruna Bahuguna is a senior IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh, who retired as the Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy till February 2017, after 39 years of police service. She is the first lady IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh. She joined IPS in 1979 and was allotted to the then united Andhra Pradesh State cadre. She served AP as Additional DGP (co-ordination) and DGP (State Disaster Response and Fire Service). She also worked with Intelligence Bureau and with the Ministry of Home Affairs. She was awarded Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1995 and President's Police medal for Distinguished Service in 2005. She is the first DGP of Telangana.
She schooled from St. George’s Grammar school, Hyderabad. Since young, she held the unique quality of leadership. She served as school captain who loved to spend her free time outdoor at Fateh Maidan. Since young she loved golf and played it. She is a graduate in History and Economics from Madras University. She belongs to 1979 RR batch and was allotted to Andhra Pradesh cadre as First Lady IPS Officer of the state.

State Police Housing Corporation, Hyderabad etc are some of the major posts held by her.
She served the Central Reserve Police Force as Special Director General. She then joined the SVP NPA as First Lady Director in January 2014. Western Classical Music, playing Piano and Guitar, Poetry etc are some of her interests. She is also known for Philanthropic and social activities. She is a golf player, and is also interested in outdoor activities. Known for her courage and determination, she reached the top most level of the police department of the state. She is also the first SDG in Central Reserve Police Force.
