Arun Vaidyanathan Biography

Arun Vaidyanathan is an Indian-American film maker, screen writer and he is associated with short films and television serials as well. His most recent Malayalam movie, Peruchazhi (2014) was an instant hit at box office.  Last year he also financed the super hit Tamil movie - Kalyana Samayal Saadham, apart from highly acclaimed Achchamundu! Achchamundu. Before making his first full length film, he has directed numerous short films.


He produced Achchamundu! Achchamundu! in 2009, which marked his entry to Collywood as film director as well. It was the first film in Indian movie to be shot with the Red One camera system and was premiered in New Jersey's Garden State Film Festival. The movie received 'Best Homegrown Feature Film' awards at New Jersey's Garden State Film Festival and has been showcased at different film festivals as well. The movie accumulated numerous awards at various award functions and the director received a Media Guild Award for creating public awareness of child sex abuse. The movie received highly positive reviews, but was a commercial failure.


His full name is Arunachalam Vaidyanathan. He was born and brought up in Sirkazhi, Tamil Nadu. Since childhood he was drawn towards the world of movies and was equally interested in dance and music. While at college, he was a mimicry artist too and it paved his way to television field. He completed software and was working in IT field in US before he returned back to native town to pursue his real passion. He got associated with Tamil television channels Sun TV and Raj TV as an episode director, presenter and screenwriter. He hosted the popular television show - Hollywood Special on Raj TV, in which he reviewed new released Hollywood movies.
