Arun Bakshi Biography

Arun Bakshi is a veteran actor associated with Bollywood and Hindi television. He is also known as a singer in the entertainment industry. He is quite a familiar face with Hindi audience, best known for playing character roles. As a playback singer, he has sung about 300 film songs. He has been mostly associated with peppy and catchy fast numbers, as a playback singer, and was most active as a singer in the 1990s. He is quite regular with uncle, father and policeman kind of roles on silver screen.

He was born and brought up in Ludhiana, Punjab. He completed his graduation from Ludhiana and worked with the Punjab Agricultural University for a while. But his passion towards cinema prompted him to move to Mumbai, in search of opportunities. He started his career in 1981 with television followed by films, and earned the name of one of the best character artists of 1990s. He played inspector role with grey shades in numerous films of his career, and also as bad politician. He was almost a fixture of action masala entertainers of 1990s, in which he used to sing as well.

As a television actor he gained fame playing the character of Dhristadyumna in B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat aired on Doordarshan in the late 1980s. Guru, Ishq Ka Rang Safed, Kuch To Gadbad Hai and Masoom etc are a few more memorable roles. As a film actor he has acted in more than 100 films in character roles. Some of them include – Gopi Kishen, Itihaas, Diljale, Saajan Chale Sasural,Miss 420, Imtihaan, Rakshak,Laadla, Suraksha, Zaalim, Platform, Rang, Shatranj etc, mostly belonging to action genre.

Some of the noted songs of Arun Bakshi as a playback singer in Bollywood include - "Mera Mehboob Aayega" from Gopikishen, Assa Dil Tere Kadamach from Balwaan, Mein Chala Mein Chala from Platform, Phatela Jeb Sil Jayega from Aankhein etc, mostly belonging to dance/fast genres. He mostly sings for the movies in which he appears as a character artist.
