Arpit Ranka Biography

Arpit Ranka is a model turned actor from Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He is a 2006 Gladrags winner. He is best known for playing the male antagonist Duryodhana, for the mythological series – Mahabharat aired on Star Plus in 2013. He entered the entertainment world playing a noted role in the Tamil film – Payya in 2010. Later he kept in equilibrium, a career both in television and cinema. He shot to fame after portraying Duryodhana for Mahabharat. He mostly plays supporting and negative roles in Tamil and Telugu movies. Tamil movie – Bhoolokam starring Trisha and Jayam Ravi is his latest release. He played the negative role of Destroyer Dayal for this movie.

As a successful model who walked on ramps for several shows for leading fashion designers of the country, winning the title of Gladrags in 2006 is the feather added to his cap of success as a model. The actor reminds that though acting is tough, he has always dreamt to become an actor.

The actor has been a lean model with 6-packs before doing Mahabharata. He appeared in a few south Indian movies, mostly in negative role since 2010. He is in the entertainment industry for more than 10 years since 2005. The actor had to put on weight and lose his 6-packs to make his Hindi serial debut through the mythological series – Mahabharata because his lean frame was not convincing for the role of antagonist.  He also says that, in many cases he can relate himself to Duryadhona.
