Arjun Bhasin Biography

Arjun Bhasin is a costume designer and stylist. He is mostly associated with international projects. He has also done a few Bollywood projects like Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Rang De Basanti (2006), both starring Aamir Khan. He has also done international projects like Monsoon Wedding, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Life of Pi. His sister Niharika Khan is a Bollywood costume designer best known for the works of The Dirty Picture (2011) and Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). Arjun’s brother-in-law is noted film and television actor, Ayub Khan, son of Bollywood actors of yesterdays - Begum Para and Nasir Khan. Nasir Khan was Dilip Kumar’s younger brother who played Dilip’s brother Jamuna in the iconic film, Ganga Jamuna.

Arjun Bhasin hails from Jamshedpur, and was born to parents of Parsi and Punjabi origin. Arjun and his sibling Niharika Bhasin had advanced studies from US. While Niharika studied public relations and HR from Seattle, Arjun studied at New York University Film School. Initially he worked in Hollywood films in the late 1990s before he returned to India, and pursued a career in Bollywood. He started his career as a costume designer with Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and the success of the film helped him to earn more projects from India and abroad. Thus he earned fame as a stylist and costume designer.

He and his sister have regularly worked with Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar for Bollywood projects, while Arjun has been frequently associated with Mira Nair, for projects such as Monsoon Wedding. He also served as the fashion editor of GQ India magazine. Some of his Bollywood projects are Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd, Gajini, Delhi-6, Luck By Chance, Ramji Londonwale, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Lakshya etc.
