Archana Udupa Biography 
Archana Udupa is an Indian singer associated with Tulu language. She sings both film and devotional songs, apart from her classical performance. She hails from Nagara in Hosanagara Taluk near Shivamogga. She gained recognition for the first time when she became the winner of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pacontest. It was for the first time when a south Indian female wins a Hindi singing talent hunt show on television, for a contest conducted nationwide. In 2012 she won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song in the film Bhageerathi. She is a successful devotional singer who has recorded songs for more than 1000 albums till now.
Nagara in Shimoga District is her native place into a family with strong music background. Since younger days she used to grad attention from listeners when she performs at a wedding or temple festival. Later the family moved to Bangalore so that she could concentrate better on her singing career. She was 18 years old when she won Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest, and she became a celebrity in her hometown overnight. She was doing her arts degree in Kannada Literature, Journalism and Women`s Studies in NMKRV College then. The successful show was hosted by Sony Nigam. Archana has the distinction of being the first South Indian to win the final round of one of the popular singing talent hunt shows on television, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Soon after this success she was awarded Promising Artist Award by Music Forum, a Mumbai-based music institution.
At that young age Archana had already earned several contests across the country including the first prize in the prestigious All India Radio music contest. She also sings in sugama sangeeta concerts with her singer- father Srinivas Udupa, apart from recording songs. She received training and guidance in music from Dr Sakuntala Narasimhan. She is currently associated with film industry too, as a playback singer.
