Archana Puran Singh is a successful television and film actress. She is a television presenter and anchor also. As an actress, her best known roles are Kuch kuch hota hai, Raja hindustani and Bol Bachchan. Her role as a sexy teacher – Miss.Briganza, done with a comic touch in Kuch kuch hota hai is still remembered by audience. She received Star Screen Award for Best Comedian and nomination at Filmfare for the role. She is married to actor Parmeet Sethi, of DDLJ fame. She is equally verse in handling comic roles as well as negative shades. Her role as Karishma Kapoor’s step mother in Raja Hindustani needs special note. She received a Filmfare nomination for supporting actress for the role.

Archana Puran Singh started her career during television ads. Her ad for Band-aid became popular and she entered television during 1980’s. ‘Mr and Mrs’ and popular detective serial – Karamchand made her first appearance on television, both for Doordarshan. Her debut feature film was Jalwa opposite Naseeruddin Shah in 1987. Though the movie was a hit, she was offered only sexy and soft porn roles later. So from 1990’s onwards she took supporting roles for Bollywood. Agneepath (1990), Saudagar (1991), Shola aur Shabnam (1992), Aashiq Awara (1993), Bade dilwale (1997) and Raja Hindustani (1996) are a few noted roles during 1990’s till Kuch kuch hota hai happened to her in 1998. Her chemistry with Anupam Kher received applause and made audience cheer a lot. She became popular with Doordarshan music countdown, comedy serial – Nehle pe dehla. She along with her husband, played the leading roles of this popular countdown program.

As a film actress, other movies are Love Story 2050, Mohabbatein, Krrish, Masti and Bol Bachchan. Her role as mother of Genelia d'souza in Masti was the highlight of the movie and the comedy elements handled by Archana needs a special mention. Her popular television shows and sitcoms include – Uncensored, Wah, Kya Scene Hai, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Shrimaan Shrimati, Junoon and Archana Talkies. In 2005, she participated in the dance reality show, Nach Baliye (Season 1) aside her husband. She was the judge of Sony TV India's Comedy Circus for the first two seasons.
