Aparna B. Marar Biography
Aparna B. Marar is a young classical dancer and singer from Kerala. She is also an organiser, art educator and choreographer by profession. One of the most prominent young artists from Kerala in the present times, she is a recipient of numerous cultural honours and awards. She is a recipient of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy- Yuva Prathibha Award in Mohiniyattom, Calicut University- Kalathilakam Awards, National scholarship by Ministry of Culture etc. As a classical dancer, she performs Indian dance forms such as Mohiniyattom, Kuchipudi and Bharathanatyam. She currently serves as the director of the Kalabharathi Foundation for Indian Culture and Heritage, the organization which promotes Indian art and culture.
Aparna B. Marar hails from Guruvayur, Thrissur district, Kerala. Her father Balram k Marar is a marine chief engineer and Dr. Sreelekha Balram, a homoeopathic doctor. Aparna too holds an engineering degree. She completed her B. Tech course with post-graduation in wireless communication engineering from PSG College of Technology. A regular performer of classical dance forms and educator, she travels extensively for her performances and lectures. She has also conducted tours to many foreign countries. She holds Masters in Fine arts in Bharathanatyam from Sastra University, Thanjavur. She won inter-university national youth festival 2010 held at Thirupathy, in classical dance forms.
Aparna is a singer too. She has done playback singing and also rendered her voice for ghazals. She is a performer and dance choreographer too. Under the banner of Kalabharathi Foundation, she often organizes dance festivals to promote the art. She also conducts workshops around the world. She is an Associate member of American Dance Therapy Association since 2014. She is a Graded artist of Doordarshan.
