Anuradha Sharma Pujari Biography

Anuradha Sharma Pujari is a famous Assamese journalist and writer. She writes fiction works as well as essays. Her first novel Hriday Ek Bigyapan was well accepted by youth when it was published. Currently she works as the editor of Assamese weekly Sadin and monthly magazine Satsori. Currently she resides in Guwahati. As a writer, her works include novels, biography works as well as short stories.

She was born in Jorhat of Assam in 1964. She studied sociology at the Dibrugarh University, and journalism at the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences, Kolkata. After that she started her career as a journalist writing columns for magazines. Her column in ‘Letters from Kolkata’ in Asom Bani weekly made her a popular writer followed by her first published novel, Hriday Ek Bigyapan. The book was published in the year 1998 and she got a lot of encouragement from famous writer, Homen Borgohain who hailed this work as a contemporary classic. Nahoror Niribili Cha, Ejon Eshworor Sondhanot, Kanchan, Mereng, Sahebpurar Borosun, Son Harinor Chekur, Boragee Nodir Ghat  and Rag Anurag are her other published novels. Nil Prajapati (2013) is her most recent published novel.

In 2003, she received Kumar Kishore Memorial Literary Award given by Asom Sahitya Sabha. She is one of the most popular Assamese writers of present generation. Amritjyoti Mahanta’s first novel Adhagara Mahanogoror Probashi along with Anuradha’s debut work Hriday Ek Bigyapan are regarded as great works that deal with the glamorous world of media in all its complexities. Boxontor Gaan, Catherinor Soite Eta Duporia and No Man's Land are her short story collections. Kolikotar Cithi, Diary, Autograph, Alop Chinta Alop Gadya and American Charaikhanat Sanbad Basanta aru Bandhu are her other published works.
