Anuradha Bhat Biography

Anuradha Bhat is a playback singer who pre-dominantly sings for Kannada movies. Bhat has recorded for over 600 films in a career spanning to more than one decade. She has worked with all leading music directors at present. She is a winner of Karnataka State Awards for the year 2013. The song was "Jnaanajyothi from the Movie Little Master. She received Filmfare awards for the year 2014 for the song - "Chanana Chanana" from the movie Ugramm. Same year she also received Zee Music Award for Best Female Singer for "Usiraaguve" from the movie Bahuparaak.

 

"Vasantha Vasantha" for the movie Meera Madhava Raghava under the music direction of Hamsalekha was one of her major breaks to the singing career. "Ellello Oduva Manase" from Sidlingu is one of her popular songs in the recent times. "Maleye Maleye" from Modalasala, "Neenadadha Maathu" from Krishnan Love Story, "Ellello Oduva Manase" from Sidlingu and "Sri Krishna" from Bhajarangi are some of her songs which gave her multiple nominations at various music awards. She has done playback singing for Kannada, Tamil, English, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Telugu and Tulu languages and has recorded over 5000 songs. Bhat has anchored a live show – "Belagu" for Doordarshan and has given musical performances for various other TV channels.

 

She was born into a family of ardent music lovers in Bangalore. Her younger sister Anupama Bhat is a popular TV personality, known as a VJ and actress. Anuradha completed MBA and joined corporate sector as a HR. but she quit the job to pursue a career in music. Apart from a trained Carnatic singer, she has also learnt light music and devotional. She has given performance on AIR and Doordarshan. She is also a trained classical dancer. She was first spotted by Music Director Gurukiran in a singing show in Mangalore. Later she was associated with Gurukiran's Band which gave her singing opportunity in India and abroad.

 

While at college she got opportunity to record a few songs with legendary singer S. P. Balasubramaniam through "Yedhe Thumbi Haaduvenu - Anveshane", a talent show on ETV Kannada. She was called by Hamsalekha and she did chorus and track singing for the music director. Some of her songs got retained by the singer. Her first big break too was given by the same music director - "Vasantha Vasantha" for the movie Meera Madhava Raghava.
