Anoop Menon Biography

Anoop Menon is a Malayalam film actor, script writer and a lyricist. His scripts have always been well received and now, he is one among the most popular script writers and actors of Malayalam, tagged under ‘New generation cinema’. He won the 2009 Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor and also the 2009 Filmfare Awards for Thirakkatha. As an actor, his best performances are Thirakkada, Cocktail, Trivandrum Lodge and Beautiful. All the songs of ‘Beautiful’ were written by Anoop. The song – Mazhaneer thullikal was the top song of the year 2011.

His association with Jayasurya has always delivered success and audience is always eager to know about their next release as well. Together they were paired for the first time for the movie, Kattuchembakam (debut movie of Anoop) and after that they have given huge hits in the form of Cocktail, Trivandrum Lodge and Beautiful. Scripts of all these three movies were written by Anoop himself. They have also worked together in hit movies like Ivar vivahitharaayal and critically well acclaimed movies like - Patham Nilayile Theevandi. Other movies of this combination include Currency, David & Goliath and Hotel California.

Though Anoop Menon has worked in many serials and movies, it was through the movies Thirakkada and Cocktail that he came to limelight. He was paired opposite Samvruta Sunil in this movie and the romantic song, Neeyam thanalinu thaazhe became the no. 1 song of the year 2010. It was for the first time when the association of Jaya Surya and Anoop Menon was noted though they have worked together several times before also.

As an actor other movies of Anoop include – I love me, Neelambari, Kerala café, Pramani, Traffic, Loudspeaker, Pakal Nakshatrangal, Abraham and Lincoln, Kaiyoppu, Rock n Roll, Ivar, Mummy & Me, Ven Shankhu Pol, Athe Mazha Athe Veyil, Mullassery Madhavan Kutty Nemom P. O., Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Namukku Parkkan, Banking hours, Veendum Kannur, 916 and Pranayam. He has also acted in a Hindi movie – Anubhav in 2009 where Jackie Shroff and Gul Panag played lead roles.
