Annu Raj Singh Biography
Annu Raj Singh is an Indian sportsman who excels in the game of shooting. She won the gold medal in the women’s pair 10 metre air pistol at the 2010 Commonwealth Games with Heena Sidhu. She has taken part in 10 National Championships and has won 27 medals in all. In the 33rd National Games held at 2007, she has won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the pistol event.
She was born on 17th February 1984 in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Her father is Dr. S. P. Singh and mother’s name is Meera Singh and her elder brother’s name is Amit Raj Singh. Her mother was a state level shooter and her brother is a national level shooter. Her father also had participated in the national level shooting competitions and worked as a consultant in the J. N. Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University. She completed her graduation in Political Science in 2006 from Women’s College of Aligarh Muslim University.
She started to take part in the shooting events from her younger years and won silver medal in the 2010 Asian Games team event and gold medal in the pairs event of 2010 Commonwealth Games and bronze medal in the 2009 Asian Championships in Doha.
She is affiliated with Gun for Glory Academy and Pune University Club. She was coached by Sunny Thomas. She originally wanted to become a doctor like her father but entered the game of shooting. She won silver medal in the ISSF World Cup tournament held in USA and got a place for her in the Olympics. She is sponsored by Olympic Gold Quest.
