Anna Ben Biography

Anna Ben is an Indian film actress belonging to Malayalam cinema. She marked her film debut in a lead role through 2019 commercial hit, Kumbalangi Nights directed by Madhu C. Narayanan (in his directorial debut). The movie opened to overwhelming response from critics as well audience, and Anna is in cloud 9 right now. Her role as Babymol received critical acclaim for her natural performance. She is the daughter of Malayalam film screenwriter Benny. P. Nayaramabalam.

Her decision to join films was spontaneous. She was only a student when she told her father her interest to join film industry. Till then she never told her parents that she wanted to act, and hence the spontaneous act surprised her father a lot. When she was 5, she was offered the childhood role of actress Indraja for a Malayalam film, which she hesitated to take. After that she never expressed her interest to join film industry and she continued with her studies. Her father asked her to wait till completion of studies, and he also promised her role in a film which he scripts. But Anna insisted that she wants lead role.

At first her father assumed that she might have left that chapter, but it was not the case. Later she came to know about Dileesh Pothan and Ashiq Babu’s new film, and that he was in search of a new girl. She gave a reply through e-mail without informing her father and she got selected for first round audition. Her name was announced four rounds after audition, when she got selected for the lead role. She got the role without revealing her real identity before Dileesh Pothan and his team.

She hails from Nayarambalam, Eranakulam. While at school, she has been a part of radio play, and along with her sister, she used to visit film sets of her father. She graduated in fashion designing in St. Terasa’s College. The students in Aandham movie are her college friends. Yet she didn’t attend audition. Once the movie got release, she felt like a missed chance. Then only she started about an acting career. After studies she worked in Bangalore as a fashion designer for one year, and also attended one or two auditions before Kumbalangi Nights happened.
