Anjana Seth Biography

Anjana Seth is a leading young and dynamic fashion designer from Delhi. She was born and brought up in Orissa and she designs costumes for both men and women which includes dresses, gowns, skirts, pants as well as ethnic dresses. She started her career in Delhi in 2007 and has become an independent name in the fashion industry in 2011. Her label titled, Barbarika is inspired by Orissa which promotes Indian traditional handloom fabrics as well as Indian crafts, though she brings innovations in them adding freshness of modern art and trends. “Talent Box” collection “Circle of life” is based on Saura tribe and their lifestyle. She used painting as highlight for this particular piece of work.

Seth was born in Orissa and she graduated from International Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi before starting her career in 2007. She started her own first independent collection in 2011. Her label is Barbarika which promotes India's dying art and crafts and handloom fabrics in the form of garments. This designer has participated in Lakme fashion week, where she has presented her collection based on tribal theme. The color, fabrics and cuts were very realistic and mesmerizing which impressed the leading fashion designer Umair zafar a lot.

Her creativity works include custom made beads as embellishments alongside rich zardosi embroidery. Subtle textures and piping on the pieces has a unique charm of their own. Her works on Indian handloom fabrics incorporates tussar silk and khadi enveloped with softly structured asymmetrically cut silhouettes. In most cases, her work is a fusion of Indian traditional with modern fashion concepts. She often works with cream or off-white colours along with a few dark tones.
