Anita Das Biography

Anita Das was an Indian film actress and a well- known television serial actress who had also received 3 Odisha State Film Awards during her active career. She has done all her films in odia language. She acted in over 100 films. She died on 11 May 2018 following a heart attack. ‘Jaydeb’, ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakura’ and ‘Mamata Mage Mula’ were the films which did extremely well in the box office. She won audience’s hearts through the movies, Suna Chadhei and Naga Phasa. She has a nephew named Akash Dasnayak, a film actor.

 

Anita Das was born on 1 October 1951. Anita’s journey in the film industry began after she completed graduation from Ravenshaw University. As a student, she was active in youth festivals in the university. “Jajabara" in 1975 marked her acting debut. She had mostly in supporting roles as a mother during the 80s. Anita had acted as the leading lady in over 10 films before she began playing supporting roles. Prominent among her films are Krushna Sudama (1976), Ramayan and Maa-O-Mamata (1980), Swapna Sagara (1983), Pua Mora Kala Thakura (1988), Gadhi Janile Ghara Sundara (1994), Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia (2003), Sathire (2004), Aama Bhitare Kichhi Achhi (2010), Shapath (2012) and Abhay (2017). She had also acted in TV serials and many devotional music videos.

 

She acted in a number of Odia ‘bhajan’ (devotional) albums and TV serials. She played numerous mother roles in the recent times. Anita was last seen in ‘Abhay’ in 2017. Yet another film was scheduled to release this year. Anita was suffering from sickness and she had chest pain. She died on 11 May 2018 following a cardiac arrest. She was 62.
