Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury Biography

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury also written as Aniruddha Roy Chaudhury is a Bengali film maker known for the movies, Antaheen (2009) and Anuranan (2006). He was the director and producer of both these movies. Aparajita Tumi (2012) is his third released movie and his upcoming project is titled, Buno Haansh.

Aniruddha Roy Chaudhury got inspiration for film making watching the movies, The Sound of Music, Roman Holiday and Hindi movie, Haathi Mere Saathi. He just thought of standing behind the camera and direct movies. He has been associated with theater before starting his career in movies. He started his career as an ad filmmaker and began with ads for Philips, Britannia, and other brands. His career as an ad film maker spans to about 16 years. He is known by the nick name Tony in the entertainment industry. He just waited for 16 long years and right opportunity to fund the money that he earned from ad film industry.

His first film, Anuranan was the first Bengali film to be shot in London and it was released in 2006. This movie was premiered at the 2006 International Film Festival of India and received positive response from critics. Later this movie was shown at several international film festivals like Cannes International Film Festival, the 2007 Mumbai Academy of Moving Images Film Festival, the Bollywood and Beyond Film Festival and the Independent South Asian Film Festival. Chowdhury received the Aravindan Puraskaram award for best debut director also for the same movie.

His second film, Antaheen was released in January 2009. This movie was screened at Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival the same year and won four National Film Awards in 2009, including one for Best Film. His third movie, Aparajita Tumi had Prasenjit Chatterjee, Padmapriya and Kamalinee Mukherjee in leading roles.
