Anil V. Kumar Biography

Anil V. Kumar is a director associated with films and television. He has directed many successful shows for Balaji telefilms. He produced the TV shows - Ganga Kii Dheej, Savitri and Savdhaan India, and has directed some episodes of a bundle of TV shows such as Kundali Bhagya, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasamh Se, Kkusum, Kahin To Hoga, Kavyanjali and much more. He directed more than 250 episodes for Kitni Mahobaat hai aired on NDTV Imagine, Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kkusum, Kasamh Se, Kahin To Hoga etc.

Anil V. Kumar was born on 4 June 1975. Patna is his hometown. He came to Mumbai in the early 1990s to pursue his dreams in entertainment industry. He came to Mumbai in 1992, just before communal riots picked up. In fact he was attacked by a mob one day while he was at Goregaon (suburb of Mumbai), and he had to run for his life. He kept running and reached Film City, and shootings were going on that day too. He got fascinated with the world there, and later he decided to try his luck in direction.

He joined Raman Kumar, whose company Tracinema was into making TV serials in the 1990s. He joined as assistant director for the popular series of 1990s – Tara. Later he worked as a chief assistant for three serials, Shatranj, Umeed and V3Plus. When the company ran into losses, he joined Pritish Nandy’s production house. He assisted him for the show, Thriller 10. Ekta Kapoor spotted him while directing the show at Shirdi, and offered him to direct the show, Kaun in the late 1990s. That’s how he got his first big break to television.

As of now, he has produced and directed many television shows, and produced one Bollywood film, Zanjeer (2013) starring Priyanka Chopra, Ram Charan Teja, Sanjay Dutt and Mahie Gill. The movie was a remake of Amitabh classic, Zanjeer of 1970s, and it flopped at box office.
