Anees Bazmee Biography

Anees Bazmee is a successful Bollywood filmmaker and screenwriter. As a director, his most successful movies are Singh is Kingh, Deewangee, Welcome, No entry, Thank you and Pyar to hona hi tha. His association with leading actors of Bollywood like Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan has been successful. Though he gave preference to serious subjects during 1990’s, now he delivers comedy movies.

 

Bazmee started his career in 1988 with the movie - Hum Farishte Nahin as a dialogue writer. In 1990, Rajesh Khanna’s movie Swarg was released. For this multi star cast family drama, he wrote the script and the movie was successful at box office too. The movie was directed by David Dhawan. Thus Bazmee became a part of Bollywood industry. Once again he teamed up with David Dhawan with the script of blockbuster Govinda movie, Aakhen in 1993. This movie was the biggest success of Dhawan till then and established him as the successful comedy filmmaker of Bollywood, delivering many comic projects with Govinda later. Aaj Ka Goonda Raj, Gopi Kishan and Andaaz were other successful scripts during 1990’s. Most recently he wrote the script of Shortkut - The Con is On, remake of Malayalam flick, Udayanaanu thaaram.

 

Bazmee made his directorial debut with the film Hulchul in 1995 starring Ajay Devgn and Kajol. It was for the first time Ajay and Kajol worked together and they fell in love during its shooting and they got married later. The movie was a flop at box-office. He directed the couple once again for the movie, Pyar to hona hi tha just before their wedding. The movie was hit at box office. He shares a good record with Ajay Devgan by directing him in hit movies like Deewangee. Most recently he has delivered many Salman Khan hits too.
