Anant Mahadevan Biography

Anant Mahadevan is an actor and director of Bollywood. Born as a Keralite, he settled in Mumbai and later became successful as a noted personality of Bollywood. As a Bollywood director, his successful movies are Dil vil pyar vyar (2002), a tribute to the music maestro R. D. Burman and Dil maange more, one of the earliest movies of Shahid Kapoor. As an actor, negative role in 1992 suspense thriller, Khiladi is his most noted movie. He played Ayesha Jhulka’s uncle’s role in this movie. In 2010, his directorial debut in Marathi movie, Mee Sindhutai Sapkal fetched him National awards. Ananth along with Sanjay Pawar received the National Award for the Best Screenplay and Dialogues for this successful Marathi movie. Not only that, this movie also fetched him the special jury award at the National Film awards 2010. This movie based on real life story of Sindhutai Sapkal, a woman who became a social activist after a traumatic life, fetched 4 National awards and ZEE Television award. 

Anant belongs to Kurkkancheri of Thrissur, Kerala. Anant Mahadevan entered movies during late 1980’s. He played a bit role of Sridevi – Rishi Kapoor starrer Chandini. Khiladi was his big break to Bollwood and this movie still remains as the most memorable role played by him. During early 1990’s, he worked in successful movies like Chandini, Khiladi, Baazigar, Gardish, Gangster and a few more. Later part of his career include movies like - 8 x 10 Tasveer, Joggers park, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Khudrat, Main Solah Baras Ki, Baadshah, Dil kya kare, EMI, Aap Kaa Surroor: The Moviee, Rafoo Chakkar: Fun on the Run, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Ishq, Vijeta and Victoria No. 203.

As a script writer, his movies are - Anamika: The Untold Story and Mee Sindhutai Sapkal. He has also written the stories of Dil Maange More!!! and Aksar. He directed all these movies as well. As a director, other movies include - Red Alert: The War Within, Staying Alive and Aggar: Passion Betrayal Terror.
