Anand Sami Biography 
Anand Sami is a well-established theater artist who gained fame playing the anti-hero role of Yohan in 2016 highly acclaimed Malaylam-Tamil bilingual film, Lens. His role as an emotionally intense Yohan, who asks the hero to watch his suicide live on skype is definitely a spine chilling performance. The movie made in multiple languages including English for international circuit received highly positive response from critics. It was Anand’s debut film. The movie was directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, who also played the lead of Arvind in this film. Jayaprakash had earlier done brief roles in Tamil films.
Anand Sami is a highly acclaimed theatre artist, though he is rarely seen on big screen. He is quite known in the theatre circuit for some unique performances. At Chennai Urur Olcott Kuppam Vizha, he staged a solo performance, where he played a man and a woman. In the satirical play Jujubee, staged by Chennai-based Perch theatre collective, he acted as Raja Idiminnal, the ban-loving king of Rulampettai.
Lens - The movie about pornography and cybercrime, directed by Jayaprakash, Sami played a man, haunted by his wife’s suicide. Sami’s transformation into a maniac has been captured well with a camera. Though he played an anti-hero in the movie, it was Sami who stole the scene. His appearance in the film is a far cry from his real look, hardly recognizable. Some of the scenes of the movie were shot in Munnar hill station, those romantic scenes with his newly wedded wife.
During his early days in corporate sector, he has switched between the jobs; in fact more than 10 companies within two years. In those days he was quite busy with theater. He first appeared in a short film, and then auditioned for daily soap ‘KKavyanjali’ and did a few episodes too. He felt that he was wasting his time and later he fully concentrated on to the theatre. Passenger, Varnajalam, How to Skin a Giraffe, Under the Mangosteen Tree and The Water Station are some of the plays in which he acted.
