Anand Ranga Biography

Anand Ranga is a popular film director of Telugu language. He got inspiration from Ram Gopal Varma’s Shiva to get into film line. After working as an associate director of Telugu movies, he moved to direction field with Oye! in 2009 which marked the ‘new career’ beginning of child actress, Shamili. She was casted opposite Siddharth, which witnessed the biggest opening in the career of Siddharth. However the movie with an anti-climax was not a big hit. His big dream was to become actor at the age of 27, because Ram Gopal Varma made Siva, when he was only 27.

Anand was born and brought up in Hyderabad. While studying at school, he happened to watch the film shooting of Ram Gopal Varma’s Siva and slowly, he started dreaming about a career in the film industry as a successful director. He graduated in Computer science and he completed the course only because a graduation is needed to join prestigious FTII. But somehow it didn’t happen and he end up with Diploma in Film Technology from Film & Television Institute, Chennai where he specialized in Film Direction & Screenplay. But he learnt a lot of things during this period. While doing his final year, he got selected to assist Kamal Hassan in 'Marudanayagam’. But when the project got delayed, he moved back to his hometown and joined as Associate Director at Suresh Productions.  

Once he got a call from Ram Gopal Varma and was asked to direct a movie with his production house. It was cameraman Kiran Reddy who suggested him name to RGV. Though he spent 10 months with RGV, the project didn’t take off and finally got shelved. It was Siddharth who gave him the opportunity to direct, Oye!
